We are proud to share an important sustainability milestone across arts institutions in Los Angeles. Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles, alongside Getty, LACMA, MOCA and the Hammer Museum, has committed to work in the spirit of the Bizot Green Protocol, a set of sustainability guidelines designed to reduce environmental impact while protecting artworks and cultural collections.

The protocol, introduced in 2015 by a network of museum directors, sets flexible standards for temperature and humidity in gallery spaces and offers measures to reduce carbon emissions across exhibitions, loans and operations. It has been updated over time to reflect both the urgency of climate change and the practical realities of caring for cultural collections.

At our Los Angeles gallery, we have already introduced operational changes aligned with the protocol, including overnight HVAC shutdowns, wider temperature ranges and seasonal adjustments to climate systems. These changes have reduced energy use and costs and we continue to monitor and refine our approach.
