Hauser & Wirth is proud to be partnering with arts organizations Drawing Room (London, UK), Gray’s School of Art (Aberdeen, UK), Royal Drawing School (London, UK) and Whitechapel Gallery (London, UK) over the next three years.
The gallery’s commitment to supporting public programs across the UK follows recent and active partnerships with: Arts University Bournemouth; Bath Spa University; Bold Tendencies; Bristol Old Vic Youth Theatre; Dartington Arts School; Drawing Matter; Hospital Rooms; South London Gallery; and Spike Island.
Each partnership is focused on increasing access, support and expertise for professional development within the arts, as well as engaging broader communities with art and artists. Over the next three years, the gallery is partnering with Drawing Room, a not-for-profit arts organization based in Bermondsey, London. We will support ‘ROCK PAPER SCISSORS’, a stimulating weekly space for local young people aged 7 – 11 years to draw, make and experiment alongside practising artists, in connection with our London gallery.
Founded in 2002 by curators Mary Doyle, Kate Macfarlane and Katharine Stout, Drawing Room champions the unlimited potential of drawing to help us understand ourselves, each other and our world, through exhibitions, learning projects and a research library. Drawing Room presents free exhibitions of drawings by emerging and established international artists. They have a unique open access research library, holding one of the largest collections of titles on contemporary drawing in the world, as well as a shop stocking selected books, drawing materials and artists’ editions. Their dynamic learning program aims to make contemporary drawing relevant and accessible to all communities, encouraging self-expression through hands-on making in their dedicated Community Studio, alongside events, artist-led projects and special commissions.

Our three-year partnership with Gray’s School of Art at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen is the Mobile Art School—an outreach project aimed at engaging and connecting communities across Aberdeen and beyond, to improve the awareness and understanding of the creative industries. This new partnership will allow the team at Gray’s School of Art to deliver a far-reaching program that empowers audiences beyond the university to create and work together. Participants will be given the opportunity to experience and explore the personal and social enrichment that creative learning presents—a powerful, transformative and essential part of modern life and a vital element in Scotland’s future.
The custom-built Mobile Art School vehicle is equipped with state-of-the-art creative tools including cutting edge 3D digital design, visualization and production resources combined with traditional analogue art design ‘making’ materials. Taking expertise and resources beyond the walls of Gray’s School of Art, offering free, high impact workshops, to communities across Aberdeen City and Shire, whilst also providing essential professional experience and teaching opportunities for recent graduates.
Gray’s School of Art is a multidisciplinary art school that has been leading and defining creative culture and development for 140 years. It is ranked the leading higher education institution in Scotland for teaching quality in Art and Design (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026), offering undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and short courses.
‘This partnership gives Gray’s School of Art an opportunity to continue to take our practices outside their traditional settings and into the communities on our doorstep. Gray’s is currently celebrating 140 years at the cutting edge of creative education in Scotland, and we aim to place our Mobile Art School at the core of our transformational activities.’—Daniel Sutherland, Associate Dean for Economic, Social and Cultural Development, Gray’s School of Art

Over the next three years, Hauser & Wirth is partnering with the Royal Drawing School, an arts organization based in Shoreditch, London. We will support the Royal Drawing School to establish an annual Drawing Festival and Teaching Fellowship, working across our global galleries.
The Royal Drawing School’s mission is to raise the standard and profile of observational drawing through teaching, research and exhibitions, championing its continued relevance as both a discipline in its own right and as the foundation of creative practice. They are committed to making high-quality drawing education accessible and affordable to all. It is a place to learn to draw, to discover leading and emerging artists, and to celebrate and advance the practice of drawing from life. They offer over 350 programs each year which are taught by a faculty of over 100 practising artists. Their five annual exhibitions and 11 residencies showcase both emerging and established artists, and the innovative ways drawing is used in artistic practice. Regular panel discussions feature some of the biggest names in art, architecture and design, highlighting the versatility of drawing across creative fields.
