Bruce Nauman. mindfuck
‘Bruce Nauman. mindfuck’ showcases curator Phillip Larratt-Smith’s reevaluation of Nauman’s oeuvre by viewing it through the lens of Freudian metapsychology for the first time. For this publication, Larratt-Smith has created an extended non-traditional essay that juxtaposes images and textual citations from film, literature, art, politics, and psychoanalytical writings (in particular Freud’s case study of the Wolf Man). In doing so, he underlies the enduring importance of the themes of human nature, sex, death, aggression, language, and the mind-body split in Nauman’s work.
