Isa Genzken: Ground Zero

“Social interaction, access, fantasy – these are some of the driving forces behind Isa Genzken’s proposal for that freighted, physically torn tract of land in Lower Manhattan, whose future since 11 September 2001 has been the subject of concerted political, economic and cultural dissension. And it is toward this very dissension, to the site’s planned realisation as a complex of office towers and a memorial, as well as toward its unique history, that Genzken has created Ground Zero (2008), a group of seven sculptures”
