The Painter Can't Sleep. A Public Symposium at Gallerie dell'Accademia di Venezia


Gallerie dell’Accademia di Venezia is hosting a public symposium to mark the final week of the exhibition ‘Philip Guston and The Poets’ on Thursday 31 August 2017, 4 pm – 6.30 pm.

The event offers a fascinating programme which is detailed below along with the RSVP information.

4 pm – 5 pm (English)
Introduction by Kosme de Barañano, curator of the exhibition
Poet Clark Coolidge discusses his collaboration and friendship with Philip Guston

5.30 pm – 6.30 pm (Italian)
Introduction by Paola Marini, Director of Gallerie dell’Accademia
Peter Benson Miller, Andrew Heiskell Arts Director at the American Acandemy in Rome, presents on Guston and Italy
Musa Mayer – daughter of Philip Guston – and Pia Capelli read from ‘Night Studio. Un ritratto intimo di Philip Guston,’ published by Johan & Levi

The event will conclude with a book signing and refreshments. Admission is free, however RSVP is essential.
