The Big Draw Festival 2025 returns to Hauser & Wirth with the theme ‘Drawn Together’ across our global locations. The gallery will welcome diverse audiences of all ages to celebrate drawing as a tool for connection, and how creativity and making have the power to unite people.
The Big Draw celebrates 25 years with the theme ‘Drawn Together,’ which highlights how creativity unites us and how collaboration and connection are at the heart of making. The creative workshops across our locations in Chillida Leku, Downtown Los Angeles, New York, Somerset, and Menorca illustrate how the act of drawing can bring our artist’s work to life in multiple community contexts.
The Big Draw is the world’s largest drawing festival with thousands of drawing activities connecting people of all ages with museums, outdoor spaces, artists, designers, illustrators and each other. Hauser & Wirth has been a Sponsor Partner for The Big Draw Festival since 2014 and was the recipient of the Galleries and Museums Award in 2018 and 2023.

Downtown Los Angeles
Saturday 20 September
Inspired by the exhibition ‘James Jarvaise & Henry Taylor. Sometimes a straight line has to be crooked,’ the gallery will host a community event inviting participants to create quick, gestural portraits of yourself or those you come with. Over the course of the workshop, the portraits will come together to form a community portrait wall, creating a mosaic of individuals drawn together.
Menorca
Wednesday 1 October – Sunday 26 October
Taking place in our Education Lab, ‘Play Your Part,’ participants will respond to the exhibitions ‘Mika Rottenberg. Vibrant Matter’ and ‘Cindy Sherman. The Women’ through a collaborative mural that will gradually transform into a vibrant community of drawn bodies and identities reflecting imagination, diversity and creativity.
Chillida Leku
Monday 2 November – Friday 28 November
Throughout the month of November, school students will collaborate during creative drawing activities as they take inspiration from artist Koen Vanmechelen, highlighting that drawing is a powerful tool for connection. On Saturday 15 November, the museum will host a corresponding community event for participants of all ages and abilities.
New York
Inspired by ‘Sonia Boyce. Improvise with what we have’ and in collaboration with Hauser & Wirth Learning partner The Drawing Center, a cohort of NYC teens will create their own hand-drawn patterns exploring repetition, perception, improvisation and movement.
Somerset
Tuesday 14 & Tuesday 21 October
School students will take part in a two-day celebration of the exhibition ‘Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely: Myths and Machines’ as part of The Big Draw 2025. This year’s event will activate the Education Lab: ‘Our Imaginary World,’ a collaborative mural and word wall created in partnership with three local primary schools. Young people are invited to creatively explore emotion and storytelling through doodle, gesture, handwritten text and wordplay, reflecting the artists’ unique and playful approaches to art.
