Following the public opening of ‘Eduardo Chillida’, Hauser & Wirth Somerset will host a day of immersive outdoor performance in collaboration with Charlotte Spencer Projects. Critically acclaimed ‘Walking Stories’ is an intricately designed group audio experience for outdoor spaces, coming to Durslade Farm for the first time this summer.
You don’t come to watch Walking Stories: you live it, breathe it, build and dismantle it. Supplied with an mp3 player and headphones, a walk in the park amongst open-air sculptures becomes an interactive and absorbing audio journey. Moving between watching, listening and following instructions, Walking Stories takes you on a journey with yourself and your companions. Following the past year of separation and isolation, ‘Walking Stories’ helps us celebrate being together again.
– Recommended age: 7+
– All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
– Maximum of 20 participants per walk.
– We aim to make this event as inclusive and accessible as possible. Please get in touch in advance if you have any access needs so that we can find the best way to accommodate you.
– Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
About Charlotte Spencer Projects
Charlotte Spencer Projects’ work is motivated by interests to engage with important social and ecological questions and to find ways to express those enquiries through intimate live encounters with audiences. They often make work in unusual spaces, inviting people to re-encounter themselves in relationship to their lives and their environment. Making processes are deeply collaborative, involving long immersive residency periods which have included 3000 Km cycle rides and building camps in forests. They have made performance work with young people, older adults, community groups as well as professional artists.
Their work has been presented nationally and internationally with a wide variety of partners, in lots of different kinds of spaces. Commissions and programming includes Sadler’s Wells, Dance Umbrella (2015 & 2017), Brighton International Festival, Greenwich Dance, Trinity Laban, Tramway – Dance International Glasgow, Siobhan Davies Dance, Coastal Currents, Turner Contemporary, Jerwood Gallery, Salisbury International Festival, Festival DDD – Portugal, Festival Plages Des Danse – France, Dance North, The Place, Wellcome Collection and South East Dance.
