  • Director of Operations
    Hauser & Wirth New York

    For our galleries in New York, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced personality to join our team as Director of Operations (f/m).

    You will be a member of the Senior Directors Team reporting directly to the Partner & Vice President. Your main responsibility will be overseeing and optimizing the operations, facility management and includes local HR related matters in collaboration with the Global HR Director in Zürich.

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Overall coordination of business schedules for the New York galleries in close collaboration with the Gallery Directors 69th Street and 18th Street.
    • Management and quality control of the operations.
    • Development of local concepts, policies and efficiencies, ensuring implementation and quality standards across the locations.
    • Manage financials of operations and logistics priorities, budgets and forecasts, incl. cost controlling.
    • Interact with departments/companies within the Hauser & Wirth Group to further enhance our operational and logistical competences.
    • Management of Registrars and Art Handling team – collaborate closely with Directors of Operations within the Hauser & Wirth Group.
    • Supervise local IT infrastructure & maintenance in close collaboration with IT Team in Zürich.
    • Human Resources: recruitment, job descriptions, remunerations, performance reviews etc.
    • Work with senior management and external parties regarding the organization’s future real estate and facilities needs, strategic projects, as assigned.
    • Supervise facility management.

    Required knowledge, skills and qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or advance degree preferred.
    • At least 5 years relevant experience in commercial galleries or auction houses.
    • Ability to comfortably liaise and negotiate with internal/external stakeholders – including legal counsel, board members, consultants, and staff at all levels.
    • Strong professional ethics, discretion and confidentiality, and sound judgment.
    • Team-Player with ability to function exceptionally in a fast-paced work environment; ability to multi-task while prioritizing important issues.
    • High-level organization skills and attention to detail.
    • Experience in supervising complex projects/exhibitions.
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Project Coordinator Intern (Paid, fixed-term contract)
    Hauser & Wirth London

    An internship at Hauser & Wirth London is a full-time position undertaken for a period of six months.The next position will be available from 5 January to mid-July 2015. Primarily you will be dedicated to the Project Coordinators, but will be called upon for general gallery assistance as necessary. You will be assigned a range of tasks that ensure you gain an understanding of how Hauser & Wirth operates, with a focus on the Project Coordination department.

    Tasks will include, but not be limited to:

    • Support the Project Coordinators with research for production of new artworks and artist projects (internal and external)
    • Research for artist publications
    • Maintaining artist archives e.g. updating artist biographies, bibliographies, artwork, exhibition and literature databases
    • Day to day departmental duties i.e. assisting with artist travel arrangements
    • General gallery duties may include assistance with mailouts, Front Desk support, archiving, post, and private views

    Requirements:

    • Fluent in English (Ability in German language is an advantage)
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Organised with an ability to prioritise
    • Computer literate (experience with Photoshop and Excel preferable)
    • Candidate should be meticulous with attention to detail, especially relating to data entry
    • Proactive attitude

  • Registrar Intern (Paid, fixed-term contract)
    Hauser & Wirth London

    An internship at Hauser & Wirth London is a full-time position undertaken for a period of six months.The next position will be available from 9 February until early August 2015. Primarily you will be dedicated to the Registrars, but will be called upon for general gallery assistance as necessary. You will be assigned a range of tasks that ensure you gain an understanding of how Hauser & Wirth operates, with a focus on the Registrar department.

    Tasks will include, but not be limited to:

    • Support the Registrar department with documentation of works of art, shipments, customs paperwork and condition reports
    • Assist with the movement and coordination of artworks for exhibitions, loans and art fairs
    • Undertake regular stock takes of works of art
    • General gallery duties may include assistance with mailouts, Front Desk support, archiving, post, and private views

    Requirements:

    • Fluent in English
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Organised with an ability to prioritise
    • Computer literate
    • Candidate should be meticulous with attention to detail, especially relating to data entry and storage of information
    • Proactive attitude
