  • Sales Director
    Hauser & Wirth Somerset

    For our gallery in Somerset, Hauser & Wirth is looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced person to join our team as a Sales Director.

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Proactive input related to sales offers at Hauser & Wirth Somerset, art fairs and internal and external exhibitions.
    • Observation of the primary and secondary markets.
    • Participation and representation of the gallery at art fairs and relevant external exhibitions.
    • Actively engage in selling artworks for all HW artists as well as for secondary market activities.
    • Focus on client relations management in order to help develop and implement the gallery’s sales strategy.
    • Collaborate with all sales staff in all locations.
    • Work closely with exhibiting artists to assist with the development of their exhibitions within institutions and museums.
    • Suggest sales prices for artworks of exhibiting artists
    • Responsible for sales terms and conditions, consignment agreements, and for relating them to Sales Team, responsible Project Coordinator and Registrar
    • Securing work from Artist studios
    • Contact with other galleries
    • To represent Hauser & Wirth Somerset at all times

    Required knowledge, skills and qualifications:

    • Bachelors or advance degree preferred
    • At least 5 years relevant sales experience in commercial galleries or auction houses
    • Ability to build strategic partnerships within a regional and international level, towards client development
    • Strong professional ethics, discretion and confidentiality, and sound judgement
    • Team-player with ability to function exceptionally in a fast paced work environment; ability to multi-task while prioritizing important issues
    • High level organization skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
    • The Sales Director will be required to work weekends and evenings
    • A driving license is desirable

  • Director of Operations
    Hauser & Wirth New York

    For our galleries in New York, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced personality to join our team as Director of Operations (f/m).

    You will be a member of the Senior Directors Team reporting directly to the Partner & Vice President. Your main responsibility will be overseeing and optimizing the operations, facility management and includes local HR related matters in collaboration with the Global HR Director in Zürich.

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Overall coordination of business schedules for the New York galleries in close collaboration with the Gallery Directors 69th Street and 18th Street.
    • Management and quality control of the operations.
    • Development of local concepts, policies and efficiencies, ensuring implementation and quality standards across the locations.
    • Manage financials of operations and logistics priorities, budgets and forecasts, incl. cost controlling.
    • Interact with departments/companies within the Hauser & Wirth Group to further enhance our operational and logistical competences.
    • Management of Registrars and Art Handling team – collaborate closely with Directors of Operations within the Hauser & Wirth Group.
    • Supervise local IT infrastructure & maintenance in close collaboration with IT Team in Zürich.
    • Human Resources: recruitment, job descriptions, remunerations, performance reviews etc.
    • Work with senior management and external parties regarding the organization’s future real estate and facilities needs, strategic projects, as assigned.
    • Supervise facility management.

    Required knowledge, skills and qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or advance degree preferred.
    • At least 5 years relevant experience in commercial galleries or auction houses.
    • Ability to comfortably liaise and negotiate with internal/external stakeholders – including legal counsel, board members, consultants, and staff at all levels.
    • Strong professional ethics, discretion and confidentiality, and sound judgment.
    • Team-Player with ability to function exceptionally in a fast-paced work environment; ability to multi-task while prioritizing important issues.
    • High-level organization skills and attention to detail.
    • Experience in supervising complex projects/exhibitions.
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
