  • Director of Operations
    Hauser & Wirth New York

    For our galleries in New York, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced personality to join our team as Director of Operations (f/m).

    You will be a member of the Senior Directors Team reporting directly to the Partner & Vice President. Your main responsibility will be overseeing and optimizing the operations, facility management and includes local HR related matters in collaboration with the Global HR Director in Zürich.

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Overall coordination of business schedules for the New York galleries in close collaboration with the Gallery Directors 69th Street and 18th Street.
    • Management and quality control of the operations.
    • Development of local concepts, policies and efficiencies, ensuring implementation and quality standards across the locations.
    • Manage financials of operations and logistics priorities, budgets and forecasts, incl. cost controlling.
    • Interact with departments/companies within the Hauser & Wirth Group to further enhance our operational and logistical competences.
    • Management of Registrars and Art Handling team – collaborate closely with Directors of Operations within the Hauser & Wirth Group.
    • Supervise local IT infrastructure & maintenance in close collaboration with IT Team in Zürich.
    • Human Resources: recruitment, job descriptions, remunerations, performance reviews etc.
    • Work with senior management and external parties regarding the organization’s future real estate and facilities needs, strategic projects, as assigned.
    • Supervise facility management.

    Required knowledge, skills and qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or advance degree preferred.
    • At least 5 years relevant experience in commercial galleries or auction houses.
    • Ability to comfortably liaise and negotiate with internal/external stakeholders – including legal counsel, board members, consultants, and staff at all levels.
    • Strong professional ethics, discretion and confidentiality, and sound judgment.
    • Team-Player with ability to function exceptionally in a fast-paced work environment; ability to multi-task while prioritizing important issues.
    • High-level organization skills and attention to detail.
    • Experience in supervising complex projects/exhibitions.
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Assistant to Senior Director
    Hauser & Wirth Somerset

    Hauser & Wirth Somerset is a pioneering world-class gallery and multi-purpose arts centre, which acts as a destination for experiencing art, architecture and the remarkable Somerset landscape through new and innovative exhibitions of contemporary art. Centred around a core belief in conservation, education and sustainability, Hauser & Wirth Somerset offers a wide variety of special events including talks, seminars, workshops and screenings, as well as an extensive learning programme for local schools, young people and families. Hauser & Wirth Somerset supports an immersive artist-in-residence programme, encouraging artists to benefit from the idyllic surroundings and to integrate with the local community.     Based in our Somerset gallery we are looking for a personable, efficient and highly organised Assistant to the Senior Director.

    The role will include, but not be limited to the following responsibilities:

    • Assist Senior Director with all day to day matters
    • Assist other senior staff when working in the Somerset gallery
    • Assist with travel and accommodation arrangements
    • Diary management and internal calendar updates
    • Assist with organising visitor agendas and arranging hospitality
    • Organise events and dinners
    • Attend meetings, and where required take records or minutes, process these accordingly and monitor actions
    • Manage telephones and update contacts
    • Prepare presentation materials for all talks, meetings, projects etc…
    • Maintain office and filing systems
    • Accounting of credit card charges, invoices and budget updates
    • Manage local supplier accounts *Represent the gallery at internal events

      The successful candidate will have:

      • At least 2 years relevant experience within a gallery or museum environment
      • A degree or equivalent in Fine Art, History of Art or similar.
      • Excellent administration and IT skills, experience of database management
      • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively, tactfully and professionally with all levels of staff, visitors and guests.
      • The Assistant will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends
      • A driving license is desirable

      Salary: Dependent on experience

With galleries located in Zurich, London, New York, Somerset and a large new space being developed in Los Angeles, Hauser & Wirth showcases the best in contemporary art through an innovative programme of changing exhibitions.

    Based in our Somerset gallery, Hauser & Wirth is looking to recruit a professional and creative Assistant to the Director who focuses on property and development.

    The role will include, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

    • Assist Director with all day to day matters
    • Assist other senior staff when working in the Somerset gallery
    • Assist with travel and accommodation arrangements
    • Diary management *Attend meetings, and where required take records or minutes and process these accordingly. Monitor actions taken on decisions made
    • Manage telephones and update contacts
    • Prepare presentation materials for all meetings, projects etc…
    • Maintain office and filing systems
    • Accounting of credit card charges, invoice processing and budgets updates
    • Represent the gallery at internal events
    • Day to day management of maintenance contracts, budget development and accounting
    • Assist with the management of large scale projects

    The successful candidate will have:

    • A bachelors degree in a relevant subject or similar qualification
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience in an administration role
    • Experience in project management
    • Excellent administration and IT skills
    • A working knowledge of the built environment and an interest in architecture
    • An interest in contemporary art and design
    • Ability to deal sensitively and to exercise appropriate judgments at all times in connection with confidential information and data
    • A propensity to learn new skills and to develop existing ones
    • Auto CAD or Sketch Up skills are desirable
    • Experience of Mac operating systems and windows office
    • Foreign languages desirable
    • A driving license
