- Roman Signer 'Street Views and Super 8 Films'

A selection of Roman Signer’s most compelling photographs and films will go on display at the Aargauer Kunsthaus. ‘Strassenbilder (Street Views)’ will make up the first part of the exhibition, focusing on photographs taken during Signer’s extensive travels throughout Eastern Europe. The first 24 photographs of ‘Strassenbilder (Street Views) depict lovingly decorated memorials created in homage to victims of road accidents. These will sit in stark contrast to a further 24 images that depict small stalls selling an array of food. A visual dialogue is born out of the works, encouraging the viewer to contemplate life and death at the roadside. The second part of the exhibition presents large-scale projections of 30 Super 8 films, created by Signer between 1975 and 1989.
