- Wilhelm Sasnal at Haus der Kunst

In collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery, Haus der Kunst will open a major exhibition of works by Wilhelm Sasnal. As a painter and filmmaker Sasnal finds inspiration in a vast number of subject matter, from icons of pop culture and portraits of his closest family and friends, to the unsettling realities of the Second World War. The artist depicts these subjects through a combination of styles which intertwine romanticism with realism, and pop with abstraction to create a unique and personal documentation of life today. The presented works demonstrate Sasnal’s expertise in and enthusiasm for the history of painting. The exhibition will display works from the last two decades including over sixty paintings and a selection of films.
